With over 8 years of experience in the addiction and mental health field, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse populations and a wide range of psychological concerns in both community and private settings. My areas of expertise include trauma, addiction, depression, and anxiety. I have experience working with individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma, including PTSD, childhood trauma, domestic violence, medical trauma, race-based trauma, traumatic grief, and sexual abuse.
When working with couples, my goal is to help clients build and maintain a satisfying and healthy relationship. I am skilled at working with couples to improve communication skills, increase emotional connection, and understand conflict. My hope is to help you better navigate challenging situations by improving your understanding of your relationship dynamics and learning conflict resolution skills. I have worked with couples facing various concerns such as communication patterns, intimacy concerns, trust and infidelity, and life transitions.
Since coping skills are what we use to respond to the challenges we experience in our lives, I find it important to explore coping strategies, emotional regulation strategies, and skill-building. I want to help you learn new tools to help you manage life’s stressors. Healthy coping tools can include better understanding problem solving, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and communication skills. These skills can encourage positive changes in your daily life.
While I have training in various evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I lead with a person-centred approach to therapy. This means that I will meet you where you are at in your journey and walk alongside you as you work towards a more fulfilled life and healing. I believe that each person is unique with their own experiences, challenges, and strengths. Therefore, I pull from a variety of evidence-based approaches as I do not believe in a one approach fits all style to therapy. I use an integrated approach to help my tailor treatment plans to each client’s unique needs and goals. By doing this, I hope to empower my clients to regain a sense of control over their lives.
My approach to therapy places an emphasis on creating a genuine connection with my clients. I truly believe that building a connection is key to making our time together meaningful. I aim to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for clients to embark on their journey of healing and resilience.
