I have a special interest and experience working with teen clients (13+) and young adults on various issues that they face including fears, grief, trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, school stress, friendships, relationships, behavioural issues, body image, emotional regulation, peer pressure, neurodiversity, substance use, family issues, academic concerns, etc.
Nowadays teens face an immense amount of pressure, and coping can be difficult. In this constantly evolving world, parents may feel helpless when addressing and navigating these mounting issues with their children. I provide a safe space for youth clients to feel comfortable with sharing and expressing themselves, without feeling dismissed, judged, or controlled. I can help them work on setting boundaries, communicating, understanding healthy relationships, manage emotions, and coping in healthier ways.
I also work with adults to treat various mental health conditions like trauma and PTSD, stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, chronic pain, parenting, and other concerns. Like my teen clients, I support adults to cope, thrive, and flourish in life. As people progress through life stages, these changes can bring struggles which may be confusing and complicated. Daily life can also be overwhelming, stressful, and busy. My therapy space can provide a place for you to unpack past and present experiences, process feelings, understand yourself, learn new strategies, and develop skills and work toward your healing.
I take the time to listen and understand what is happening for my clients, their experiences, and concerns, and truly give them a space to feel seen, heard and validated.
This can lead to struggles such as finding it difficult to enjoy life, anxiety, negative thoughts, identity confusion, and feeling a loss of control. When these challenging experiences become too big to face on our own, it affects relationships. But there is hope. Therapy can help to make sense of things and effectively cope. And I am here to support you through it.
Naming and experiencing the feelings that come with trauma or mental health challenges can be difficult. My goals are to help by meeting you where you are at and to walk alongside you while supporting you through processing trauma, challenging negative thoughts, and building skills and strategies to manage personal and relationship obstacles.
My approach draws from many different theoretical backgrounds including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy (SFT), internal family systems (IFS), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and more.
