About Jessica Harvey

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Fees: $220/hour

I care about connecting deeply with my clients.

After navigating through my own mental health challenges, I can see how much someone’s life can be changed by facing their struggles head-on.

I also understand the uncertainty and fear that comes with reaching out for help, I felt that way too, but I also knew I had come to the point where I had to do the work to improve my life. Now, here I am, a therapist, working with others to create the change they want in their lives!

To me, therapy is about connection and the experience of being understood, authentic, and accepted for being exactly who you are. When someone feels seen and understood, that is where the magic happens. My goal is to help others find this ease within themselves and the confidence to navigate the world as their authentic selves.

My goal is to help you gain clarity about who you are and what you want.

I want to work with my clients to feel a sense of lightness again, so often, when we struggle, everything feels dark, heavy, and uncertain. When we begin the work of self-exploration and acceptance, we begin to see possibilities that were never there before.

When we have insights into who we are and how our struggles have impacted us, we can start seeing a way forward. We can accept where we are and take responsibility for moving forward; in fact, there is newfound motivation to create change.

I take a relational approach to therapy that includes a deep exploration of the Self.

I have always been drawn to the exploration of Self and how we accept and express who we are within relationships and our environment. My approach to therapy is person-centred, with an existential lens, and I use a lot of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in my work with clients. ACT is all about observing what arises without judgement, and getting a little distance from distressing thoughts and feelings so that we can engage in life in ways that are value-aligned, ways that matter to us.

It is about being the person you want to be and living the life you want, regardless of suffering; we learn to respond flexibly to what comes up, and take our challenges/suffering along for the ride so that life becomes more rich instead of more restrictive. My work is also quite emotion-focused, and I have an emotion-focused and solution-focused lens in my work with couples.

I am particularly skilled in working with anxiety and related challenges.

We all have the ability to edit our stories and author our lives in a way that feels authentic to us and helps us live in alignment with our values. Even when faced with extreme anxiety or despair, or whatever challenge you are facing, we can always find choice, meaning and purpose.

We can create contentment, simplicity, and ease even through our struggles.

All of us are walking through life living a human experience, we experience all of life’s emotions, from intense pleasure to immeasurable and unavoidable pain. We all share this experience together.

When we fully embrace this truth and fully accept who we are we can find contentment and peace. When I was able to connect more deeply with my true nature and learned to respond more flexibly to distress, I felt vibrant again, like the clouds began to part; I took my life back. I want this for my clients!

My office will always be a place where you can feel comfortable being exactly who you are; there is no judgment here; I will meet you where you are at, with acceptance, and compassionately challenge you to grow. I believe that creating an environment full of compassion, trust, and a bit of fun leads to tremendous change.

Whether you are wanting to do some skill-building and personal growth, or you are quite unwell and facing challenges in functioning, I am here for you.

I look forward to working with you, exploring who you are and the life you want, and witnessing you taking your life back.
