About Brenda Vos

Registered Social Worker (RSW)

I specialize in helping people facing challenging life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, abuse, grief, and trauma.

I have over 13 years of experience working in clinical and community settings, and I prioritize trauma-informed care and cultural understanding in my approach. I am deeply committed to serving vulnerable populations and those who have been affected by trauma, marginalization, and oppression. I support a wide range of individuals, including younger and older adults, who have complex needs and mental health challenges.

I often work with individuals and couples who know they need to create change in their lives because their current approach is no longer working for them, yet they feel unsure of the next step. Big emotions such as overwhelm, loss, hurt, and distress are often in the way of moving forward. To me, therapy is the first step toward achieving this change, and I support my clients in transitioning to the next phase of their lives. I believe in my clients and empower them to take control of their lives and their journey.

I bring a unique perspective that emphasizes social justice, attachment, and solution-focused care.

During my time working within the healthcare system and senior programs, I witnessed a significant amount of discrimination and prejudice. Unfortunately, many marginalized groups face these challenges, especially when it comes to mental health concerns. I realized that I could have a greater impact by working in private practice and assisting individuals in meeting their psychosocial and spiritual needs in their daily lives, beyond crisis management.

I wanted to offer greater psychosocial support and structure to individuals who are feeling overwhelmed by multiple stressful situations without having anyone to rely on or resources to help them cope. My goal is to help individuals overcome their obstacles by recognizing their own strengths and unique abilities while also providing additional tools and coping mechanisms to achieve the life they have always envisioned for themselves.

My approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and collaboration.

I provide a holistic and personalized approach to therapy, utilizing various modalities such as Narrative Practice, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-focused Therapy. I believe that every person has a unique story that deserves to be fully heard and understood.

My attachment-based approach acknowledges that no person is an island, but rather shaped by their relationships with family and community, which also influences how they move through the world. As we work together, I strive to fully understand my clients and create a safe space where they can share their experiences with me.
